Can I contact you between puppy classes/puppy training?

Of course! I can offer support and answer any questions you may have. The best way to contact is via email at lisa@albanypetservices.co.uk to see how we can help support you and your puppy.

What area’s do you cover?

For dog and puppy training we cover Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and North London including St Albans, Watford, Borehamwood, Radeltt and Barnet, For pet care such as dog walking and cat sitting we have looked after pets in St Albans, London Colney, Harpenden, Welwyn, Hatfield & Wheathampstead.

I have a challenge with my puppy's behaviour are group classes right?

We would find out more about the situation and suggest a one to one session if we felt that was more suitable. We can also provide online training if you would prefer that.

Who should come to training?

We recommend that anyone who is available in your dog’s training should join the session where appropriate. We suggest that anyone who is involved in your dog’s care is provided with the training methods so they can reinforce them.

For the training programmes can I book just one session?

For you to see results in your dog training you need to commit to a number of sessions otherwise you may feel that positive reinforcement training doesn’t work or feel that your dog can’t be trained. We wouldn’t be able to cover everything you and your dog would need to know in one 60 minute session. It would be a waste of your time and money to offer just one session.

I have a dog or puppy who is nervous of other dogs

We provide one to one dog walks so that means we can minimise interactions with other dogs if you would like us to. We can reinforce any training. Our online puppy and dog classes are ideal as that way your dog doesn’t interact with other dogs in a small class environment but still benefits from training.

How does online training work?

We will arrange a time for the training session with you. If you’re in a different country to the UK, here’s a simple way to check your time zone. We will send you the details of your Zoom meeting including a link and password via your email address and all details on how to download and join. You will be asked to download the Zoom app on your computer or phone. Depending on your browser you may be able to attend without downloading the app. I strongly suggest you check your internet connection to see if it can manage Zoom here. We will have a free 10 minute slot to run through zoom before the training session starts so we can outline how it works. 

 

What areas do you cover?

Our online training and telephone helpline is available across the globe. Face to face training is available in St Albans, Welwyn, Hatfield and Harpenden.

What qualifications and accreditations do you have?

Lisa has a canine coaching diploma. She is a member of the Pet Professional Guild, Animal Training Academy and Animal Building Blocks Academy.

What are your payment arrangements for training?

An invoice will be sent to you via email and payment will be requested via bank transfer on the day of the booking and due within 24 hours.

What is your cancellation policy for pet care assignments?

If forty eight hours notice of cancellation of a booking is not given, we cannot offer a refund unless we have a letter from a vet stating that your pet is unwell or injured.This is because we could have turned away other pet care assignments as we were already booked up.

Will you walk my dog(s) off lead?

We will only walk your dogs off lead with your permission.

Are you insured and dbs verified?

Yes, we will bring the dbs certificate along to the initial home visit. We are insured by Cliverton, a specialist animal insurance provider, our policy number is M1676624.

Are you able to administer medication to my pet?

Yes, we have experience in administering certain types of medication such as tablets, cream and diabetic injections. We will ask you when you initially enquire if your pet is on any medication, if we feel that we cannot help we can recommend other colleagues. Please ensure that medication changes are updated via your pet sitter plus login. For tips on giving cats medication, please see this article.

What time’s do you visit?

We can arrive at specific times. We can administer medication at specific times and feed pets that are on raw food at specific times too. Please let us know what times you would like and we will do our best to help.

What are your payment arrangements for pet care?

For walks, puppy care and cat and small animal visits, payment is due 24 hours before the visit takes place. With a block booking of a week or month of dog walks or pet sitting the payment is due in full for the full booking 24 hours before the first assignment. For home stays a 50 % deposit is due within 48 hours of the booking and the final 50% is due 24 hours before the assignment takes place. Payment is via bank transfer or cheque. Can you reinforce cues for my puppy and dog?

Yes, certainly, just let us know what they are. We know how important stopping and waiting at curbs is and the life saving leave it cue!

Will you walk my dogs in a group?

No, we do solo dog walking and walk two dogs from the same household only. This way your dog receives the attention it requires and deserves, dog-to-dog aggression from pack walks is avoided, and in the event of an emergency we can get your pet to a vet as quickly as possible.

Will you contact us while we’re away?

Of course! We will send photo and video updates to you. Please let us know your preferred method of contact. We will contact you on the first day, during the middle and on the last day. Please contact us as much as you like.

What happens if there’s an emergency with my pet?

We will take your pet to the nearest vet and contact you or your emergency contact (if we cannot get hold of you) in the first instance. Please note that you will be responsible for any veterinary charges.

Can you water our plants?

Sure! Just let us know what one’s you’d like us to water. Please ensure that outdoor plants are moved away from the wall to avoid water damage.

What about our keys?

You’re keys are kept in a locked device separate from your address details. If we’re looking after you’re pet while you’re on holiday we will hold on to your keys until you return home incase there is a delay with your flight so we can continue caring for your pet.
