DOG TRAINING QUESTIONS
Can I contact you between classes and/or training?
Of course! I want you to successful. I can offer support and answer any questions you may have. The best way to contact is via email at email@example.com to see how we can help support you and your dog.
What training methods are used?
We use modern, ethical training methods which are fun and help you bond with your puppy. We never use methods that scare your puppy.
How do the one to one sessions work?
We start by having a strategy session and questionnaire and create a personalised customised plan for your training. We can talk about why your dog is doing what they’re doing and put a management procedure in place.
What is your refund policy?
If the puppy classes aren’t a suitable environment for your dog then we will offer a refund. If our classes have to move online rather than in person, no refund will be given.
What if I miss a week?
If you miss a week we will send you the content as usual. You may be able to join another class that covers the missed week if there’s one available.
Is it the same person coaching each week?
Yes, we think it’s important for consistency that you’re working with the same person each week so they get to know you and your puppy. There may be the odd time due to holiday or illness that a different trainer runs the classes but the same methods and content will be taught.
What will I learn?
We cover manners such as sit, stay, leave it, drop and wait, recall and loose lead walking. We also provide guides on body language, socialisation and habituation.
What age are puppy classes for?
Our puppy classes are for puppies up to 20 weeks old. If you have an older dog please contact me for options for you.
How long do the classes last?
Puppy classes are 1 hour long and last 5 weeks. Worksheets, videos and handouts are sent to you so you can continue to practice at home.
My dog is nervous of other dogs - do you offer any alternatives?
We understand that puppy classes aren’t for every puppy. In this instance you could book on to our online classes or book a one to one session if you feel that would be more suitable for you and your puppies needs.
What area’s do you cover?
For dog and puppy training we cover Hertfordshire and our online options are available for anyone around the globe. For pet care such as dog walking and cat sitting we have looked after pets in St Albans, London Colney, Harpenden, Welwyn, Hatfield & Wheathampstead.
Who should come to training?
We recommend that anyone who is available in your dog’s training should join the session where appropriate. We suggest that anyone who is involved in your dog’s care is provided with the training methods so they can reinforce them.
For the training programmes can I book just one session?
For you to see results in your dog training you need to commit to a number of sessions otherwise you may feel that positive reinforcement training doesn’t work or feel that your dog can’t be trained. We wouldn’t be able to cover everything you and your dog would need to know in one 60 minute session. It would be a waste of your time and money to offer just one session.
I have a dog or puppy who is nervous of other dogs
We provide one to one dog walks so that means we can minimise interactions with other dogs if you would like us to. We can reinforce any training. Our online puppy and dog classes are ideal as that way your dog doesn’t interact with other dogs in a small class environment but still benefits from training.
How does online training work?
We will arrange a time for the training session with you. If you’re in a different country to the UK, here’s a simple way to check your time zone. We will send you the details of your Zoom meeting including a link and password via your email address and all details on how to download and join. You will be asked to download the Zoom app on your computer or phone. Depending on your browser you may be able to attend without downloading the app. I strongly suggest you check your internet connection to see if it can manage Zoom here. We will have a free 10 minute slot to run through zoom before the training session starts so we can outline how it works.
What areas do you cover?
Our online training and telephone helpline is available across the globe. Face to face training is available in St Albans, Welwyn, Hatfield and Harpenden.
What qualifications and accreditations do you have?
Lisa has a canine coaching diploma. She is a member of the Pet Professional Guild, Animal Training Academy and Animal Building Blocks Academy.
What are your payment arrangements for training?
An invoice will be sent to you via email and payment will be requested via bank transfer on the day of the booking and due within 24 hours.
DOG WALKING AND PUPPY CARE
Why solo walks?
We set up our solo dog walking service as we recognised that not all dog’s feel comfortable and safe in a group environment – they may have had a bad experience with another dog, or are elderly and recovering from an operation. We felt that it was only right that they had individual attention and a walk that was suited to their needs and requirements.
What is your cancellation policy for pet care assignments?
If forty eight hours notice of cancellation of a booking is not given, we cannot offer a refund unless we have a letter from a vet stating that your pet is unwell or injured. This is because we could have turned away other pet care assignments as we were already booked up.
Will you walk my dog(s) off lead?
We will only walk your dogs off lead with your permission.
Are you insured and dbs verified?
Yes, we will bring the dbs certificate along to the initial home visit. We are insured by Cliverton, a specialist animal insurance provider, our policy number is M1676624.
What are your payment arrangements for pet care?
For walks, puppy care and cat and small animal visits, payment is due 24 hours before the visit takes place. With a block booking of a week or month of dog walks or pet sitting the payment is due in full for the full booking 24 hours before the first assignment. For home stays a 50 % deposit is due within 48 hours of the booking and the final 50% is due 24 hours before the assignment takes place. Payment is via bank transfer or cheque. Please refer to the terms and conditions for more info.
Why do you provide a solo puppy care service?
Puppies are obviously smaller and they’re joints are still developing. It’s important that if they are playing with other dogs that the dogs are suitable in terms of temperament and size so they’re not overwhelmed. Also by walking puppies on a solo basis we can manage their interactions with people and other dogs and sights and sound in a managed and controllable way so they build up positive associations with them.
Can you reinforce cues for my puppy and dog?
Yes, certainly, just let us know what they are. We know how important stopping and waiting at curbs is and the life saving leave it cue!
Will you walk my dogs in a group?
No, we do solo dog walking and walk two dogs from the same household only. This way your dog receives the attention it requires and deserves, dog-to-dog aggression from pack walks is avoided, and in the event of an emergency we can get your pet to a vet as quickly as possible.
CAT SITTING AND HOUSE SITTING
Will you contact us while we’re away?
Of course! We will send photo and video updates to you. Please let us know your preferred method of contact. We will contact you on the first day, during the middle and on the last day. Please contact us as much as you like.
What happens if there’s an emergency with my pet?
We will take your pet to the nearest vet and contact you or your emergency contact (if we cannot get hold of you) in the first instance. Please note that you will be responsible for any veterinary charges.
Are you able to administer medication to my pet?
Yes, we have experience in administering certain types of medication such as tablets, cream and diabetic injections. Please ensure that medication changes are updated via your pet sitter plus login. For tips on giving cats medication, please see this article.
Can you water our plants?
Sure! Just let us know what one’s you’d like us to water. Please ensure that outdoor plants are moved away from the wall to avoid water damage.
What time’s do you visit?
We can arrive in specific time blocks. If your cat has medication or dietary needs we can administer medication at specific times and feed pets that are on raw food at specific times too – please make a note in the portal if this is the case.
What about our keys?
Your keys are kept in a locked device separate from your address details. If we’re looking after you’re pet while you’re on holiday we will hold on to your keys until you return home incase there is a delay with your flight so we can continue caring for your pet.

Why do I need to get a vet referral before seeing a behaviourist?
Pets can be masters at hiding pain. It’s imperative that you get a vet check before a behaviour consultation is completed. Otherwise you may embark on a behaviour modification plan that doesn’t solve a problem that is medical in nature – a waste of time and money and something that won’t help your pet.
What if I need behaviour modification rather than an advice session?
We will refund you if we find that it’s not an advice session you need and refer you to qualified behaviourists.
Our puppy training is an investment that helps prevent behavioural problems later on
We will only walk your dogs off lead with your permission.
We can visit your cat as many times as you would like us to
